G’day, my name is Helen Farrell. Known to most as ‘Chappy Helen’ I am serving as the School Chaplain every Tuesday.
I’m part of the school’s support network, I’m here to help build the social, emotional and spiritual health and wellbeing of our school community. I am available to students, parents and staff. I help out anywhere I can, in the classroom, the schoolyard, or in-between.
School Chaplains are required to be non-judgmental, non-coercive and support the whole school community, regardless of issues or worldviews. Participation in chaplaincy services is voluntary, with permission sought before any ongoing support or programs are engaged. Chaplains aim to be a trusted, caring and affirming presence in school, with time and training to listen and support appropriately, as well as to run programs to develop self-esteem, peer support, deal with tough issues and build personal resilience.
Clermont is a great place because of the people in it. I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can. If you need any more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me or the school Principal. My chaplain email is helenf@chappy.org.au
